YOU by Recreate-U invites people to learn, connect and create, exploring Salford’s local history and what it means to them, capturing their lived experience of Salford in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.  

 Day 1: A walk around the RHS Bridgewater and Worsley canals with a local historian, learning about Salford’s history as a working city and stopping for lunch/coffee. Participants will be invited to share observations and memories, e.g. how the natural and built worlds have changed, what certain areas looked/sounded/smelled like.     

Day 2: A day of art, craft and collective creativity at Transcend Studios’ Salford Quays space, working with a local artist. We will encourage attendees to explore written word in their piece alongside different artistic modes and mediums, creating a collective piece of art expressing their experience of life in Salford. Refreshments provided.   

Post-project: After project completion, the final art piece will go on display at Recreate-U's stall at We Invented the Weekend 2026.
