For Commissioners and Professionals

Learning Language Together is an early intervention programme aligned with NHS Start for Life and Family Hub priorities, supporting families during the earliest stage of a child’s development.

The programme contributes to key public health outcomes by:

  • Supporting early communication and language development
  • Strengthening parent-infant bonding and attachment
  • Improving parent and/or caregiver confidence in English language use
  • Reducing social isolation for new parents
  • Promoting parent and/or caregiver wellbeing and mental health
  • Increasing engagement with local services and support networks

By engaging families early, the programme helps to reduce inequalities, improve access to services, and create stronger foundations for long-term health, learning, and development.
